Take Flight, November

Sun’s gone. A black-necked goose swallowed it
and went south while I slept. All right.
That is the way things are.

Sunday morning. At 3AM, I woke up thinking some dark-haired woman (my doppelganger?) was upstairs playing with my cat. Then, I dreamed she watched me from inside my doorway. Unnerving. Woke again at 7:30. Put on my glasses & read Mekeel’s “Wind of the White Dresses,” which is really like reading that someone else shares my dreamworld with me and that I’m not alone in there.
And then I began on my geese.

By 9AM, I’ve made 8 geese, taking the flowers & sun with them on their wings. To complete this quilt-flock, I’m gonna need 322 more. I can’t wait to be surrounded by them!

By the end of it, I expect two strong grey-black-white wings to sprout from my own back. And the song of the moon to be on them, too.
